Peace Prize of the German Book
Trade 2003 was awarded to Susan Sontag
The American writer and essayist Susan Sontag, who signed her latest book "In America"
at the Prague Writers´ Festival in the year 2000, was awarded the Peace Prize of the German
Book Trade 2003 during the Frankfurt Book Fair at the Paulskirche in Frankfurt on Sunday,
12 October 2003.
Sontag is reported as saying to the press:
"I am not just a writer.
I am mainly a human being with a moral conscience."
