		Norman Manea
		
		Norman Manea, born in 1936, in Bukovina was deported at the age of five to the Ukrainian internment
		camp of Transnistria. His fiction, which is preoccupied with the trauma of the Holocaust and 
		with daily life in a totalitarian state, has been translated into more than ten languages. 
		He received Guggenheim and MacArthur Foundation Awards. He is now professor 
		of literature at Bard College and lives in New York City.
